When it come to plane crashes some of the causes are unpreventable. There have been endless accounts in the past where the smallest thing has cause an airplane to go down. Causes vary from mechanical malfunctions to simple human error but in these cases the most we can do is be prepared. Here are some of the more recent accidents that show the casualties of our errors.
Continental Airlines Flight 1404
On Saturday, December 20, 2008, at approximately 6:15 pm local time this craft veered off the side of the runway and skidding several hundred yards and crashing into a 40 foot deep ravine. The place caught fire in the process as most of the right side was on fire when help arrived. 38 people had injuries as well as a few with critical conditions.

Afriqiyah Airways Flight 771
This flight crashed on 12 May 2010 at about 6:01 pm local time. This aircraft crashed approximately 1,200 meters short of the airport at it landing destination in Tripoli, Libya after taking off in Johannesburg. The cause of the crash was unknown, later concluded to pilot error,as all aboard perished but one. most passengers would have included of Dutch travellers returning from vacation. the lone survivor of this crash was a 9 year old Dutch boy.

This plane crashed on 16, August 2010 at 1:49 am local time. The plane split into three pieces. About 260 feet before the start of the runway, with wreckage spread about another 328 feet. The aircraft's nose and first eight rows of seating came to rest on the runway pointing but the Colombian Air Force said, "the skill of the pilot kept the plane from colliding with the airport". Airport fire crews quickly doused a small fire that had started on a wing. There were two fatalities.
